Urgent help and safety
If someone is in immediate danger, call 111. Hands Up is not an emergency or crisis service.
- NZ Police — emergency and non-emergency help: call 111 if someone is in danger or needs an immediate emergency response. For matters that do not need urgent Police assistance, call 105 (24/7) or make a non-emergency report online.
- Suicide Crisis Helpline — 0508 TAUTOKO: call 0508 828 865 for support with suicidal thoughts.
- 1737 — emotional support: free call or text 1737, 24/7.
- Oranga Tamariki — worried about a child?: call 0508 326 459 to discuss concerns about abuse, neglect or a child’s wellbeing.
- Women’s Refuge: call 0800 733 843 for family-violence help, or find your local refuge.
You do not have to work through a difficult situation alone. Hands Up offers free practical support, information and advocacy for individuals and whānau.
