OUR RESPONSE
THE HARD TRUTH
-
Intervention response to families reaching out for help in our local community of the South Waikato.
-
Every need differs some REQUIRING very little help while others needing more commitment and planning. We do both short term and long term assistance.
-
Because of our growth we are currently working on a plan to bring individuals and organisations together to PUT their Hands Up to help in this area for the purpose of referral. Thanks to the Ministry of Womens Affairs we will be ramping our outreach up. Go to our podcasts page for more informaiton.
-
We are also looking to align a NUMBER of organizations to put their Hands Up for the creation of a National Coalition for the End of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence in NZ.

POLICE RESPONSE RATE TO FAMILY VIOLENCE
During Covid 19 Alert Level 4:
The number of family violence incidents increased since the nation went into lockdown 25 March 2020.
On March 29, police recorded the most incidents since the lockdown started: a total of 595 in 5 days.
The region with the most incidents was Counties/Manukau in South Auckland.
“In response to the need in our local community we put our Hand Up to help children and families desperate for change and sincere help”.
Before we knew it we were working closely with Children, Rangatahi (youth), Families, Iwi, Lawyers, Police, Social Workers, Counsellors, Drug and Alcohol Services, Youth Residences, Ministries of Social Development and Ministry of Justice and any other agency that were in the circle of our clients. We decided it was time to put our Hands Up in a more formal way and created our charitable trust Hands Up Community Services Trust.
We hope that we can bridge the isolation felt by children, youth and families living under a cloud of unecessary uncertainty, guilt and shame in our community.
Many people think there is no way out of the pit they and their families are in but with Hands Up charitable trust there is a way.
